A former Carolina Hurricane joins an OHL team in a high postion

Former Carolina Hurricanes winger and Stanley Cup Champion Chad LaRose will join the Sarnia Sting next season as the Director of United States Scouting

Every former player of the Carolina Hurricanes is like family. Whenever any of them move on to great positions or amazing jobs we can’t help but feel proud. Like Bret Hedican going on to the NBC Sports California broadcast team or Kevyn Adams becoming the latest GM for the Buffalo Sabres.

Now Chad LaRose, 2006 Stanley Cup Champion and Carolina Hurricanes favorite, has moved up in the hockey world as the OHL’s Sarnia Sting’s Director of United States Scouting.

LaRose, who has spent all eight seasons of his NHL Career with the Carolina Hurricanes before spending a pair of non-consecutive seasons in the minor leagues, will be given the massive task of scouting through an ever growing roster of of top U16 and junior American hockey talent to bring to the OHL.

Chad has been more than excited to start his work with Sarnia and bring some of the work ethic he learned in Carolina with him:

"“I am extremely excited to have the chance to work with Dylan and the entire Sarnia Sting organization. Ever since I have retired, I wanted to get back into the Ontario Hockey League. This is an opportunity for me to work with some of the best players in the world and our ultimate goal is to have the best talent playing in Sarnia, in front of our fans. I cannot wait to get started and look forward to meeting everyone.”"

The Sarnia Sting are well aware of the talent that have in a man like LaRose. General Manager Dylan Seca added this:

"“We are thrilled for Chad to join our current scouting group. He is another excellent hockey mind, who again has the experience at many levels of junior and professional hockey. He is very connected at all levels and has played in both the USHL and Ontario Hockey League. We feel Chad will be a great tool in identifying U.S. talent and in our recruiting process, we welcome him to the Sarnia Sting organization.”"

Watching players that were critical parts of the team grow and move on in their hockey career is always a  heartwarming experience, especially the players that were a large part of the 2006 Cup win. Chad LaRose is no exception to that.

We hope that he finds many great talented American players that will have excellent careers in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting. Perhaps more than a few will get their name called up and a Hurricanes Jersey handed to them on draft days in the future.
