New guys continue to grow in confidence

Whenever a player comes over from another team there is an adjustment period. Whether it’s the on ice systems or all the personal changes off ice that come with a move, it takes time to get comfortable and confident with a new organization.

For some the adjustment period is a bit seamless and they’re ready to go after a day or two, others it takes longer. If the player is coming from an organization where they’ve spent their entire career, the adjustment can be even more difficult.

Both Brady Skjei and Vincent Trocheck are here for the long haul, with term on both of their deals. So far, the two have had their fair share of great plays and costly mishandles. Tonight will be another opportunity for them to continue to develop some chemistry with their new teammates and gain some offensive confidence in the process.

Although technically not a  “new guy,” Justin Williams has been hot of late. With five goals in his last four games, he seems to have gotten back into the groove he had last year, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

While he is the first guy to redirect the attention away from himself, his goals have all been a result of getting into those high danger areas, taking away opposing goalie’s eyes and becoming available for tip ins.

The newest member of the Canes is Morgan Geekie. Dynamic for Charlotte in their Calder Cup run last season, Geekie has taken full advantage of his limited ice time so far. Only the second player in franchise history with a three point debut, the question now becomes can he keep it up in his encore performance?
