Scotty McCreery was caught wearing the wrong jersey at the Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Game and the Caniacs were not happy with the wardrobe choice.

Singer and entertainer Scotty McCreery is known for many things; Country Music, winning the tenth season of American Idol, and winning several awards including a few BMI Country Awards. But you ask Tripp Tracey, color commentator for the Carolina Hurricanes, what he should be most known for, he would say that Scotty McCreery should be most known for being a ‘Huge Caniac”.

He would be somewhat correct. The Garner, NC born musician has been caught at more than one Carolina Hurricanes game including the playoffs last year as he loves to tweet and instagram about the Carolina Hurricanes.  He is true and loyal to his home state’s teams and cheers them on anywhere he goes.

Or does he?

See, Scotty McCreery was caught wearing another team’s jersey on twitter as an invitee to crank the Vegas Golden Knights’ siren to start the game (why Vegas thought they could just steal that from us is a whole other article). Take a look below at the face of a ‘traitor’:

Now, this has upset several Caniacs online who felt that that perhaps Scotty McCreery has sold out to another team. Although almost all of them would gladly accept a free Jersey, free tickets, and a chance to crank that siren at the drop of a hat. Maybe a few would be turned away by the ethical dilemma that was presented with the Hurricanes being the opposing team that night.

Now Scotty came back on his Instagram wearing the new Hurricanes away jersey and apologized to Canes fans about the whole thing saying that he “had to go behind enemy lines for a minute” and that he was back for the Canes.

The Team account had the best response to this whole debacle: “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”. This might be the only time that statement has been uttered about something that was not an actual crime.

What was a crime was what the game did to my heart. Taking it all the way back from a 3-1 deficit to lead the game 5-4 only to lose that lead and take it into an overtime that involved incredible saves and more than a few banged posts, only to end it all in an overtime shootout where Justin Williams takes it to the house to end it once again?! Have mercy.

But you know who would agree that this game ended the way it should, with two points heading to the Carolina Hurricanes so they can remain in a playoff spot and perhaps gain a little ground in the playoff race against teams like the Islanders and Blue Jackets?

That’s right; Scotty McCreery!

Now We wouldn’t really call this a true betrayal from Scotty. After all, every entertainer has a little Vegas in them, or does Vegas have a little of every entertainer in it? Bah, it doesn’t really matter. All that matters is when the Carolina Hurricanes face off against Vegas in the Cup Finals in the future that McCreery wears the Red, White, and Black of Carolina.

Question for CC Readers: Do you consider McCreery to be a traitor?
