The Carolina Hurricanes take on the Florida Panthers to avoid building a third losing streak this season. Here is how you can do the same.
The Carolina Hurricanes are trying to avoid this back and forth streak building between losing and winning. Honestly it’s not a real way to gain traction in this league. Let’s be honest, with the way The New York Islanders and the Washington Capitals are going, the Hurricanes are more than likely going to have to settle for third place in the division.
Now that is a slightly better place to be than the wildcard spot they had last year that took us to the first playoff berth since 2009, but to get it they are going to have to pick themselves up by their skate laces and play better than 0.500 hockey. They will and that means that you get to gain the rewards of players stepping up and pushing back harder to close out the month with solid effort.
So who will be hot tonight? Well, while the team’s no longer on its winning streak there are several players that are streaking on their own in terms of points. These will be the guys who will push back harder tonight and prove to the team they are dependable players.
Joel Edmundson has been on a point creating tear these last few games. This man is on a FIVE game point streak. In those games he has amassed two goals, five assists, and two broken sticks. That is seven points in five games. to put that into better perspective, that is his entire season. The man has kicked it into another gear.
This should be an easy pickup if you need another defender tonight. Cannot imagine that he would be in high demand in most leagues. He has been a nice surprise to this team and he will be an even better one for your fantasy roster tonight! I would wager he would also get plenty of time on the ice tonight so perhaps if your league has a utility slot, thats where I would put him.
Let’s be real about something. Lucas Wallmark is punching well above his weight class right now trying to fill in the skates of the injured Erik Haula. While that may have Rod Brind’amour sweating a little, this is great news for any fantasy roster that is looking for a short time replacement for any of their injured forwards.
Another easy to grab Carolina Hurricane in most leagues, Wallmark is being forced to play better in Haula’s absence, and it will be in his best interests to step up and show his value. Its paid off so far in the last two games with three points off of two assists and a goal. Grab him now before he goes off on a 13 game point streak and ends up in your opponent’s roster.
Joel Edmundson isn’t the only Hurricane on a point streak. Second year player Andrei Svechnikov has been also tearing up the ice and there is no slowing him down currently on a six game point streak himself. This kid is on pace for over 37 goals and 90 points! Not bad for a sophomore season. But the Russian wonder is picking up steam.
In those six games he has eight points, half of them goals. This kid is going to finish the season with over a hundred points. Will probably be the reason that Dougie Hamilton wins the Norris. The question is, Did you manage to grab him and put him on your Fantasy Roster or did he slip away from you?
