2. Petr Mrazek: March 11, 2019 vs. Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche had a two on one chance with Colin Wilson and Carl Soderberg, which Wilson got both chances on Mrazek. Mrazek made the save on the initial shot by Wilson, but a rebound was left for the taking.

That’s when Soderberg found Wilson where Mrazek made a spectacular save, sprawling out getting a piece of the puck with the right pad. He also had to reach back after the puck hit his pad with his stick to finish the save on Wilson’s opportunity.

The athleticism needed to get over on the pass, get just enough with the pad, and follow with his stick is a sight to behold. The quickness as well being able to quickly plant his skate in the ice to push over to make the desperation stop.

What that also means is that Mrazek never lost sight of the puck. His head follows the pass to Wilson’s stick where he puts the shot on Mrazek. As it develops further, you just see his head follow the puck all the way as he is making the save. He was a brick wall all of that night, but this save was the statement of a 38 save shutout.
