Pesce Returns to the Ice, Game 6 option?

The Carolina Hurricanes received a boost at practice today before Game 6 tomorrow evening at PNC Arena. Injured defenseman, Brett Pesce, returned to the ice for practice and was deemed an "option" for Game 6. However, it does not appear to be certain that Pesce will play tomorrow but could be a more realistic option if the Canes force a Game 7.

Tony DeAngelo has filled in for Pesce and has played limited minutes. DeAngelo has not hurt the club but it would certainly be an upgrade to have Pesce back in the lineup if he is close to 100%.

It has been well covered that Rangers' tough guy, Matt Rempe, has been playing limited minutes due to his lack of skill and tendency to commit penalties. DeAngelo seems to be getting under the skin of Rempe and his teammates in this series. Game 6 may be his chance to push Rempe too far and commit a game-changing penalty. Just another reason to keep DeAngelo in the lineup and not rush Pesce.

Although the Canes have struggled on the man advantage, the last game on PNC Arena ice was won by the Canes on the power play from a Brady Skjei goal.

Pesce's return to practice is a positive for this team but it is just that. It is a fast and emotional series right now that would be difficult for Pesce to jump right into at this moment. Coaches would normally keep the lineup the same on a streak of two wins as well.

I would expect to see the same lineup for Game 6 that we saw in Game 5.
