4. Chaos in the capital (5/15/25)
Playoff moments will take up most of the Top 4 because there were quite a few special ones. The first moment from this postseason that I'll talk about is the goal that sent the Hurricanes to the conference finals. Their series with the Capitals was tight early, but the Canes pulled away during Games 3 and 4 in Raleigh.
Jordan Staal and Anthony Beauvillier traded goals about four minutes apart in the first period of Game 5, providing the only offense for most of the night. With under two minutes left, Andrei Svechnikov threw a puck at the net from a sharp angle. Logan Thompson had been good all series, but this was a soft one. This goal was the difference maker as the Canes sent the Capitals packing.
3. The first of many (10/15/24)
My favorite moment from the regular season takes us all the way back to the very beginning. The Canes dropped their season opener to the Lightning, but they had a chance to rebound against the Devils a few nights later. Jackson Blake was a surprise coming out of camp, cracking the roster as the team's lone rookie. On this night, he made himself quite a lasting memory.
The Canes led 2-1 midway through the third period with the Devils pressing. Dmitry Orlov threw a puck at the net, finding Blake cutting through the slot. Blake perfectly redirected the puck over Jacob Markstrom's glove, pushing the lead to two and netting his first in the NHL. Blake's goal served as the game-winner in a 4-2 win, the first of 47 for the team this season.
