I feel like I have already addressed this, but I will break the fourth wall yet again and remind us fundits that Canes funditry needs to lighten up. We’re here to have….FUN!

Maybe it is best to first explain briefly the terms Funditry or Fundit(s).

A fundit is someone producing Hurricanes content for…fun. Fundits practice funditry for…fun.

Fundits like the guys at The Storm Cellar, us here at Cardiac Canes or any other Hurricanes podcast are not making bank enough to quit our “regular” gigs.

Pundits, on the other hand, practice punditry for a living. Those folks, like say Walt Ruff, Adam Gold, Mike Solarte, and the Joes at The OG Podcast, don’t have “regular” gigs. Carolina Hurricanes content is part of their “regular” gig.

Now, perhaps if we are clear on the terms we can get to the reminder; funditry really is supposed to be……fun so lighten up! It’s more…fun

For example. Recently we here at CC wrote two (now three) articles on the current “Haula”baloo about Erik Haula’s bracelet.

Our content creator Ben wrote a really good (serious) piece about how the infatuation with Haula is a non-starter for many folks and needs to draw to a close. I highly recommend you read it. It is worth your time.

The next day, I decided to write a good (satire) piece about Erik Haula’s bracelet being a harbinger of doom for every team named Hurricanes, and even real hurricanes. I referred to Haula as Erik “First Round Force To Be Reckoned With” Haula. (Trademark) How that can be taken seriously remains to be seen. (Try reading my article with Danny McBride’s voice in mind)

Several amateurish fundits took this article as a seriously written piece, espousing the talents and vengeance of Erik Haula. And took to social media in rather boisterous, if less eloquent, fashion.

One went as far as to say “the way all the articles posted to cardiac canes reads it’s impossible to tell what satire and what’s bad takes.”

I will remind us all “bad takes” are a matter of opinion.

YOUR TAKE AS A FUNDIT IS NOT BETTER THAN MINE. MINE IS NO BETTER THAN YOURS.

Finally let me say; fundits, because they are doing this for….fun, are freer to write want they want, how they want it written. And will do so if you get the joke or not.

Your being a complete jerk, due to a lack of comprehension, only shows your inadequacies. Not those of a fundits practicing funditry. Certainly not those of a pundit practicing punditry.

When the final horn sounds, you can read any articles here at Cardiac Canes however you want. That said, Ben’s serious article on Erik Haula is a solid take on the matter. My article on Erik Haula’s bracelet, I promise, is a complete satire. Ben had…fun…writing his piece. I had….fun…writing my article. I’ve had….fun…watching some people get my joke.

For those of you who did not get the joke…lighten up. It is way more fun!
