Carolina’s 2022-23 season came to a heartbreaking end. On that, we can agree. So comes the time of “Best of” and “Worst of” articles. With the veritable cornucopia of articles I’ve written here at Cardiac Canes, there have to be a few decent ones to round out a top ten list.

Here are perhaps my best articles from the 2022-23 season.

Or at least the ten that did not cause the most commotion.

Hurricanes Head Home Just In Time

This starts out my top ten because it was one of my first article of the 2022-23 Season here at Cardiac Canes, and one that actually came out right. The Canes went on one of their best runs of this season just like I thought they might. During this home stand that moved past the New Jersey Devils into 1st place in the Metro Division (and never looked back)

Here Is A Hot Take. Yours Are Not A Gift From The Gods.

If there is something I hate about sports fandom, it’s the “Hot Take.” Everyone thinks theirs is manna from heaven. Well, I have news for you. It’s not. Mine are no better. I at least work to remember that. Other “faxperts” think they have the corner on the market, when in reality they have a $.25 lemonade stand on a rainy day like the rest of us.

De Haan And Chatfield Have A Streak Of Their Own

One of the best parts of my writing was covering what I deemed the Hanfield Express line of Calvin de Haan and Jalen Chatfield. This was one of my absolute favorite combos on the team and they were so consistent in their playing. Both ended up having stellar 2022-23 seasons and were a blast to watch in person.

Let this live rent free in your head!

Paul Maurice Had Florida Ready To Beat Boston But The Canes?

Unfortunately, this article was prophetic. We all knew the Panthers were going to give the Hurricanes a run for their money. I said that in this article. In fact, I said the Canes would have to step things up BIG to beat Florida.

Looks like I understand hockey a little better than the some would give me credit for.

Huge Caniac: A Tripp Tracy Appreciation Post

Whomever doesn’t like Trippy Tracy at the end of the day cane eat plain crackers. He is one of the funniest folks on the air. And what he has over come in his personal life is nothing short of stellar. My hat is off to this Hugest of the Hugest Huge Canaic for keeping us laughing and for taking it one day at a time.
A Reaction To The Philadelphia Flyers Pride Night

The Philadelphia Flyers Pride Night bruhaha was very disappointing to a lot folks. The way the players and team handled the who thing was really over shadowed by the New York Rangers and their botching of their night. I took particular umbrage and wrote this article in response, hoping that one day we can simply ignore the haters and enjoy a night of celebration like we might ignore anything else.

The Carolina Hurricanes Can End Up With Connor Bedard, Easy!

Finally, I wrote a piece that was received as it was intended. Yes, in a world full of Cheeseburger gnomes, the Carolina Hurricanes could end up with Conner Bedard.

When that happens let me know. We’ll order some cheeseburgers

Writing for Cardiac Canes over the 2022023 season has really been a lot of fun. I have followed the Hurricanes closer, enjoyed the banter with fans, and found a creative outlet.

These articles are the best I’ve got from the roughly 140 I have written since December 6th. Forty One of those have been “Cornerstone” articles that equate to 900 words or more.

Have they all been great? No.

Have they all been perfectly typed and structured” Not by a long shot.

Have they all been thought provoking and spellbinding? At least my writing them they have!
