Last night, the Carolina Hurricanes fell down to the dreaded 3-0 series trail, and naturally, the time for panic is upon the Caniac faithful. The time for excuses and quitting is not upon us just yet.

Despite the feel around the fans and the media, this series still has one more game left…at least.

The New York Islanders did it and the Boston Red Sox famously did it to their arch-rivals, the New York Yankees. Both teams came all the way back from a 3-0 deficit in their respective series and won the deciding game 7.

Does it happen often? No. Does it happen? Yes.

In all sports, the team down 3-0 is usually hanging by a thread by Game 4 and begging for mercy. However, that is not the case in this series and with Carolina. Each game has been won by just one deciding goal.

In the first two contests, it took more than 90 minutes of hockey.

The Hurricanes have struggled to score and Sergei Bobrovsky has been outstanding but in the same breath, players like Brent Burns and Sebastian Aho have stood out and played strong hockey.

The puck can have crazy bounces this time of year, especially when the ice has to deal with the hot Florida weather.

Are the odds against this group to win the series? Of course.

But what is the point of getting behind this group and experiencing the ups and downs just to walk away from one last shot to keep the season going?

Spoiler alert: The Canes will not win the series on Friday. In fact, the Canes cannot win the series this week, that can only be done in Raleigh a week from today.

The frustration of not scoring and being down in this series will only grow, even with a victory. But be thankful that their is one more chance and hopefully another chance and even another chance and……you get it.

The players haven’t quit and that is evident by Jesperi Kotkaniemi’s reaction after last night’s loss.

Neither should you! Just win the next period and game until it is over.
