Where have the Chicago Wolves of February and already in March been? Chicago went on a 5 point tear during the month of February, lost a game, then have been streaking since. Jack Drury has been leading the boys in the City With Broad Shoulders.

5-4 Grand Rapid Griffins (W)

Grand Rapids gave the Wolves a run for their money in Chicago.

Max Lajoie scored twice, Jack Drury, Griffin Mendel had goals to lead the Wolves to their sixth win, Anttoni Honka knocking in the game winner in overtime. Ronan Seeley and Ryan Suzuki (who was also streaking with a seven game points streak) each added two assists for the Wolves

Pyotr Kochetkov (19 saves) recorded the win in goal for the Wolves

6-2 Tucson Roadrunners (L)

Zachary Sawchenko gave up 6 including one to Michael Carcone in a thumping by the Roadrunners.

Jack Drury and Josh Melnick had the Wolves only goals.

2-1 Tucson Roadrunners (W)

Two wasn’t enough the night before, BUT was plenty for the Wolves against the Roadrunners. Zach Senyshyn, in his first game as a Chicago Wolve, and Mackenzie MacEachern scored and Pyotr Kochetkov had 28 stops on 39 shots.

The Boston Bruins used a first round pick on Senyshyn in the 2015 NHL Draft and he comes to the Second City from Utica Comets for future considerations.

4-3 Grand Rapids Griffins (W)

Jack Drury, who Chicago needs playing well, Josh Melnick and Vasily Ponomarev (2) all light up the lamp for the Wolves in a very big come from behind win against the Griffins.

Pyotr Kochetkov had 20 saves on the night.

4-1 Manitoba Moose (W)

Essentially this whole article has been a set up for opportunity to celebrate Pyotr Kochetkov’s goalie goal late in the third period on an empty net shot from behind the Chicago net.

If ever there is a thing of beauty, it is Pyotr Kochetkov scoring a goalie goal

If that isn’t enough to make your heart grow three sizes too big, you can sit at home and eat plain crackers.

Still these streaks have been a little too late for Chicago. As they remain well out of play-off competition, there is still a slim possibility this late run is enough to put them in the Wild Card run. But this lack of play-off contention has not stopped several Wolves from putting up some very solid numbers on the year to day.

Jack Drury- 34 GP, 11 G, 12 A, +3, 1 PPG, 1 SHG, 2 GWG

Jamieson Rees- 47 GP, 11 G, 24 A, 35 P,  -7, 3 PPG, 0 SHG, 1 GWG

Malte Stromwall-50 GP,  12 G, 22 A, 34 P, -6, 6 PPG, 1 SHG, 1 GWG

Ryan Suzuki (over his 7 game point streak)

1 G 0 A, 1 P, 0

0 G, 2, A, 2 P, +2

0 G,1 A, 1 P, +1

0 G, 1 A, 1 P, -3

0 G, 1 A, 1 P, -1

1 G, 1 A, 2 P, +1

0 G, 2 A, 2 P, 0

Individual play, and some streaking has not been enough to keep the Wolves out of the AHL basement this year, but they have been playing very good hockey lately. This great run of games might be too late to put the Wolves in the play-off hunt, but there are players building on their year.
