While Caniacs and fans of the NHL await the announcement of the fan vote for the final roster spots, the NHL announced the coaches heading to Southern Florida this February.

Leading the Metro All-Star team for the second straight year is none other than Hurricanes head man, Rod Brind’Amour.

The honor was earned by Carolina having the highest point percentage as of today.

Currently, the Hurricanes have been led by Brind’Amour to a 25-9-7 record with a near-flawless month of December. This catapulted the team into the division lead, which they still hold as the New Jersey Devils are 2 points behind.

Brind’Amour has had an impressive start to his coaching career after having such a successful career as a player.

Entering the coaching ranks as a 48-year-old, Brind’Amour has coached in over 300 NHL games and is just one win away from his 200th coaching victory.

The team has responded well to his coaching and has won two straight division titles.

In his fifth season at the helm of the Hurricanes, Brind’Amour may have his deepest group of players yet.

Battling injuries all season, the team has received important contributions from rookies to veterans.

Joining Brind’Amour will be forward, Andrei Svechnikov and potentially Martin Necas.
