The Carolina Hurricanes remain in Florida tonight to take on the newly resurrected Florida Panthers for the second time this season. Tonight will be yet another test of the Canes’ mettle; the Panthers have evolved under new GM Bill Zito to become one of the most competitive teams in the league this season.

The past three games for the Canes have been rough. All losses at the hands of the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the most recent of which were the Canes’ first back-to-back losses this season.

More from Cardiac Cane

The ship has to be righted at some point, and there is no better time to do that than against a team that the Carolina Hurricanes traditionally play very well against.

The Panthers are not to be underestimated, though. They are currently sitting pretty atop the new Discover Central Division, and deservedly so. They’re also tied for 2nd best in the entire NHL, but we won’t talk about that right now.

The Carolina Hurricanes are just 3 points behind them; if the Canes can take both games of this miniseries in regulation, they’ll be able to climb a few spots and bring the Cats back down to Earth.
