The Carolina Hurricanes host the Chicago Blackhawks tonight after earning a point in an overtime loss against Florida earlier this week. The Canes look to get another winning streak going and overtake the Chicago Blackhawks in the Discover Central Division.

Tonight’s game was originally slated to be the first in a back-to-back against Chicago, but tomorrow night’s opponents will be the Tampa Bay Lightning instead.

This has obvious implications for how the Carolina Hurricanes will play tonight; they’ll likely want to leave a bit in the tank to play the Bolts tomorrow instead of leaving it all out on the ice against Chicago twice in a row.

The Blackhawks will be coming to Raleigh on a bit of winning streak themselves, most recently shutting out the Detroit Red Wings 2-0. Rookie goaltender Kevin Lankinen (who notably has more points than 1st overall draft pick Alexis Lafreniere) will look to continue his absolutely torrid run of form this season.

The Carolina Hurricanes certainly have their work cut out for them tonight; the Blackhawks have proven to be far more competitive than initially thought. The guys in grey (thanks, Reverse Retro Night) are gonna need to pull together tonight and play a far more complete game than they played against Florida earlier this week to come away with 2 more points in the standings.
