The Carolina Hurricanes have released their 2021 NHL training camp roster.

Training camp begins for the Carolina Hurricanes in just a few short days on January 3rd, with players taking the ice on January 4th. There will be some familiar faces, but also some fresh new faces joining the Canes as they take the ice to prepare for the 2021 NHL season.

On the training camp roster are 24 forwards: Sebastian Aho, Jeremy BraccoDavid Cotton, Jason Cotton, Ryan DzingelJesper FastWarren FoegeleMorgan Geekie, Seth Jarvis, Steven LorentzJordan MartinookStelio MattheosMax McCormickBrock McGinnMartin NecasNino NiederreiterJamieson ReesSheldon RempalDrew ShoreSpencer SmallmanJordan StaalAndrei SvechnikovTeuvo TeravainenVincent Trocheck.

As for defensemen, there are 10 names on the training camp roster: Jake Bean, Haydn Fleury, Joakim Ryan, Dougie Hamilton, Jaccob Slavin, Brett Pesce, Gustav Forsling, Jake Gardiner, Joey Keane, and Brady Skjei.

Rounding out the training camp roster are 4 goalies: Alex Nedeljkovic, Antoine Bibeau, Petr Mrazek, and James Reimer.

The players will skate in two groups, C1 and C2 (to be announced at a later date), during their 9-day training camp at the newly built Wake Competition Center.

There are more than a few exciting names to watch on this roster in the coming weeks, most notably 2020 1st Round pick Seth Jarvis. Now, it is highly unlikely Jarvis will make the NHL roster right off the bat, but crazier things have happened.

I’m also very interested to see how players like Steven Lorentz, Jake Bean, and Jeremy Bracco fare during camp. These guys specifically /should/ be on the Carolina Hurricanes’ “taxi squad” in the event of injuries.

Notably off the roster is 2019 1st Round pick Ryan Suzuki, due to his participation with Team Canada in the WJC, where he is currently doing a fantastic job representing both his home country and the NHL team that drafted him.

It is now 2021, folks, and hockey is officially back in a few short days. Less than two weeks remaining until the puck drops for real, but that’s plenty of time for these guys to prove themselves to Rod Brind’amour and Don Waddell whether or not they have what it takes to hang in the big leagues this season.
