After a few much needed days off the Carolina Hurricanes are back in action tonight. The SAT line needs help and those that need to step up will tonight.

At the end of the day a point is a point, yes two would have been nice but the Canes just need something to go right. An overtime loss is better than a regulation loss.

With 4 days off the Canes have had time to rest, heal, and practice. They have gained quite a few games in hand on the Metro with plenty of teams losing since last weekend. Now they just need to shut down their opponents and make the best of these games in hand they have.

It helps that the next three games are metro opponents to be able to keep from getting points while the Canes gather them. What will also help is if lines other than the SAT line can get points, and they will tonight.

Carolina Hurricanes Fantasy Picks

Pick Analysis. F. . Jordan Staal. 11. Season Report. player. 109

The biggest head scratcher for most caniacs is why our captain only has 24 points in 64 games this year. It has been a tough year for the production of Jordan Staal. His leadership still shows but intangibles don’t always get the playoff points in the standings.

Staal does have 4 points in the last 6 games and has seemed to find a bit of a groove. Luckily his face off skills have not seemed to be hindered so Staal could be a sneaky candidate for a couple of assists off of the draw. He has to have a big game, we need screaming Jordan back.

Season Report. F. Martin Necas. Pick Analysis. . 88. player. 109

Martin Necas had been rather quite up until the Habs game but still is only 2 points away from 37, which was how many points Svechnikov tallied his rookie year.

Necas is a wild and fast threat. Throughout the year he has matured and made less and less of those “freshman mistakes.” He will utilize his new found line in Trocheck and Nino and raise them up. Necas notches 2 points tonight, bank it.

player. 109. Season Report. Pick Analysis. F. . Justin Williams. 14

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA – FEBRUARY 25: Justin Williams #14 of the Carolina Hurricanes has words for the official during the second period of a game against the Dallas Stars at PNC Arena on February 25, 2020 in Raleigh, North Carolina. (Photo by Grant Halverson/Getty Images)

Is it at times showing that Williams is old and took half a year off from hockey? Yes. His grit and locker room presence will be his biggest assets but he needs to score.

Williams ended a very dry spell with a much needed goal against the Habs. Will the puck finally start bouncing his way? Yes, if not the Canes could miss the playoffs, but Williams will find the puck luck and hopefully put some fire in PP1.

Philly is favored and for good reason, they are hot right now, possibly the last team anyone wants to play. The Canes have had some rest and time to mesh, Canes get 2 points but give one to Philly by a 4-3 SO win.

Question for CC Readers: What’s the last team you would want to be matched up with in the playoffs?
