As if it weren’t already desperation season, the Carolina Hurricanes dropped another two points last night. They need to get things going on this road trip and here is how they will do it.

The Carolina Hurricanes fought back last night, but ultimately fell short. They seemed to be more of a cohesive team as compared to Tuesday night, however. A faster and more complete team at that, but they still needed a third period comeback to stay in it.

It seems like just about everyone on the ‘SAT’ line is tired of playing mediocore hockey, so the question is this: when will they get help? Brady Skjei was good last night and Vincent Trocheck seemed to have quite a power play presence. But what about everyone else?

Carolina Hurricanes Fantasy Picks

player. 109. Pick Analysis. F. Teuvo Teravainen. 86. Season Report.

Teuvo Teravainen of the Carolina Hurricanes

Teravainen was not having any of it last night. After a scoreless first two periods, Teuvo saw that if nobody else was going to score, then he was going to have to do all the work. And he did. Turbo got us back to a tied game with 2 minutes left before the Avs came back again.

What is interesting is while Teuvo has a team high 44 assists, he has three goals in the last three games. He knows that the pressure is being put on this top line to do the work. Like Aho and Svechnikov, Teuvo will do the work but they will still need help to complete the playoff push.

109. D. 76. . Brady Skjei. player. Season Report. Pick Analysis

That’s right, folks, time for a new guy! Skjei will bring great things to Raleigh, just wait! He has already shown he can skate and play solid D. He had a lot of wild shot attempts in his first game as a Cane, but has since slowed down and made more quality passes and assists.

Since recording his first point last night, the only way to go is up. I think keeping him off of the first line and letting him play line 3 with Haydn Fleury was a marvelous idea that payed dividends well last night and will continue to do so going forward.

109. Season Report. . player. Sebastian Aho. 20. Pick Analysis. F

Mr. Sebastian Aho is having himself a SEASON! With last night’s assist Sebastian now has a career high 13-game point streak, only 2 behind Eric Staal’s career high of 15 straight games with a point.

Sebastian has been rolling, and as long as he is hot he will stay in the fantasy line up. He knows his part and he has quite certainly been worth his raise this season. Now with 62 points in 63 games, he sits behind only Eric Staal once again for most goals in a season by 9.

This could be, and already is, a monumental season for Sebastian. Let’s see him close out even further on these goals tonight.

Canes Playoff Push

The Carolina Hurricanes still sit outside of the WC, but thanks to losses by the Rangers and Blue jackets last night, the Canes are in the exact same scenario today.

So for today, in order of importance we have:

Canes > Habs

Chicago > Panthers

Bruins > Isles

Sharks > Pittsburgh

Canucks > Maple Leafs

The Hurricanes are not surprisingly unfavored in tonight’s matchup. It will be a tough and close matchup, but a fun one to watch nonetheless. It would be even more fun with a Canes 4-2 win with Aho extending his streak to 14 games with a point tonight.
