The Carolina Hurricanes are back in action tonight! Don’t let the break fool you, a win is still a must, and here is who will get it for the boys tonight!

What a physically and emotionally painful 10 days it has been. Yea sure the All-Star game was fun and Hockey has been back for a few days, but who wants to watch two west coast teams play at 10pm.

With some time off the guys got to relax but came back a few days ago to get back to work. 32 games left, sitting in the last wild card spot tied with Toronto, a sense of urgency is needed.

A lot of rumors of trades have been going around and while it’s fun to speculate let’s stick to what we know. The 6 blue liners to play tonight are as expected. The forward situation seems to fit the bill of Williams stays in as a rotating man for injury or slumped players. So who’s going to come off the break fresh?

1. The All-Star – Jaccob Slavin

ST LOUIS, MISSOURI – JANUARY 24: Jaccob Slavin of the Carolina Hurricanes and Kendall Coyne Schofield #26 of the American All-Stars take part in the 2020 NHL All-Star Skills competition at Enterprise Center on January 24, 2020 in St Louis, Missouri. (Photo by Dave Sandford/NHLI via Getty Images)

Prediction: There will not be any sort of All-Star slump for the NHL’s best defenseman. Slavin finally got some much needed back rest after carrying the defense since Dougie’s injury. AVERAGING over 25 minutes of ice time a game, Slavin has been THE man for the Canes blue line. Pesce and Edmundson have also stepped up immensely as well.

Facts: Jaccob Slavin winning the accuracy skill challenge at the All-Star weekend is an indication of just what he can do. And he will do just that tonight. 5 goals, probably not but he will find the back of the net.

Now had there been a stop a two on one, then make a perfect pass to an open attacker for an assist on a break away goal, Slavin would have won that as well. Bottom line Slavin can make the play offensively and defensively, and he will tonight. 4 Fantasy Points.

2. The Vacation Buddies – Andrei Sechnikov and Martin Necas

Following one, or both, of these young super stars on social media would be a strong recommendation.

These two spent the break together in Mexico, kickin’ it by the pool relaxing. It is outside of the rink bonding that will strengthen this young core. The closer you get to a teammate off the ice the better you will be able to support each other on the ice.

While they haven’t been playing on the same line or power play, expect them to do well tonight. IF caught together during a shift, or who knows Rod goes crazy and moves the lines again, they will shine. Still supporting each other during the game, each gets a goal tonight! 7 Fantasy Points for the pair.

3. Dad – Justin Williams

Averaging 1 points per game since his return, give us more of that! Williams only took about a week to realize he was needed on the ice, and since his return to play the Canes have yet to lose.

Williams also would have racked up 8 points last game with two power play goals. He has filled in for Dougie on the Power play very nicely and allowed the special teams to thrive once again.

Williams won’t let this team lay down. IF this is his last couple months playing in the NHL, he’ll go out with a cup. He will do whatever it takes and put the team on his back if needed. 4 Fantasy Points.
