The Carolina Hurricanes are on a roll in Canada, and look to keep the 5 game point streak going with some help from the players hot on the road.

For those keeping score it’s Hurricanes 2.5, Canada 1 currently. More importantly, dating back to the thrilling Sharks game on 12/5 the Canes have collected at least 1 point in now 5 straight games. After the last game, The Canes now sit as one of only six teams to notch 20 wins thus far this season.

How do the Canes keep this hot streak rolling? By playing a 12 and 6 line up, and relying on some of the unsung heroes of the road trip; that’s how.

The Carolina Hurricanes called up forward Brian Gibbons yesterday. If Erik Haula is not 100% ready to go Gibbons will step up once again. This is a positive note to know that Haula is close to being back and that the Canes will stick with the 12 and 6 line up for tonight.

Jordan Martinook has been a BEAST ever since the return from his core surgery. He has been faster, more aggressive, and somehow, louder.

On this trip, weather it was having his family here or what, he has three points in the first three games. Against Calgary one of these points was a short handed assist which in fantasy counts for more than a regular assist.

There was never any question of Martinook deserving the A letter on the front of his sweater this season, but his on ice point total was rather low to start the season. He has shown up in a big way on this trip, and while there might be another drought or two for the alternate captain, we as Caniacs can expect this grit form him all season long.

Warren Foegele is another skater for the Canes that had a rather slow start after a very explosive playoff run. If any doubts or questions were stirring those should all be squashed now.

Not only does Foegele have 5 points in the last 5 games, two of which will get you extra points in fantasy. But Foegele has a new fire under him. He has had chance after chance at the net. He grinds every second he is on the ice, and should honestly have about 10 points the last 5 games.

While Foegele is not only getting the opportunities he is creating them for himself. He doesn’t let the failures get to him but grinds out the next shift just as intense as the last. As long as Foegele has this mindset, the goals will fall. And they have.

BOSTON, MA – DECEMBER 03: Carolina Hurricanes left wing Brock McGinn (23) loads up a shot in warm up before a game between the Boston Bruins and the Carolina Hurricanes on December 3, 2019, at TD garden in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by Fred Kfoury III/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images)

Technically, Brock McGinn did have the game winning goal against the Flames. This is just what enemy number 1 in DC needed to get back in the saddle.

Brock operates a lot like Foegele in the nature that he hustles and shows his speed each shift. This hustle has been noticeable all trip thus far, and while the goals haven’t fallen as much for him as Foegele, it’s the same concept. Keep shooting and hustling and they’ll fall.

McGinn often shares a line with Martinook and with Martinook finding quite a few assists recently, expect Brock to benefit from this tonight.

These three bring the girt that the Canes need to play all 60 minutes and win every night. They are being rewarded for their hustle and don’t expect it to trail off any time soon. We could see more points than normal tonight form these three. Expect at least 8 fantasy points.
