FanSided came out with its FanSided 250 list Dec. 10, and there was a painfully obvious omission: The Carolina Hurricanes.

We all know there are entities and individuals that have some of the hottest fandoms out there. Those groups are never absent from the FanSided 250 — which ranks the 250 biggest fandoms in sports, entertainment, celebrities and gaming. This year, there was one notable absence from the list once again. The Carolina Hurricanes.

That is right folks, once again the Caniacs have been underestimated and underappreciated. Surprised? Me Neither.

I may be biased, but I think the Caniacs are the greatest fans around. In fact I think they are the greatest in the NHL.  But you don’t have to take my word for it, just check out the results from NBC Sports’s bracketed surveys:

Another issue with the FanSided 250 is who actually did make it.

In the Metropolitan Division, The Capitals were the highest-rated fandom from the Division, fifth overall in the NHL, and 127th overall. The Islanders and Rangers were 9th and 10th in the NHL and 147th and 158th overall respectively while the Flyers and Devils were 16th and 17th in the NHL and 214th and 216th overall respectively.

That makes five teams from the Metro Division and none named the Carolina Hurricanes.

The worst pill to swallow was the fact that the Nashville Predators were No. 14 in the NHL and No. 184 overall.

Heck, Newcomers Vegas Golden Knights were No. 15 in the NHL and No. 186 overall while Buffalo was No. 18 in NHL and No. 240 and the final NHL team to make the cut.

You mean to tell me that the Carolina Hurricanes Caniacs were bested by the likes of Islanders, Sabres, Nashville, and Flyers?

Really?

I think not.

I’m not sure how the polling is done for the FanSided 250 at the mothership, but I’m here to tell you that the Carolina Hurricanes and the Caniacs were snubbed once again for no reason. Again, I may be biased, but the Caniacs are the best fans in the country. And it is SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN.

We’ve seen the low times in a nine year playoff drought and we’ve seen the high times in 2002 and 2006, even witnessing the team lift the Stanley Cup Trophy high and mighty over their heads in the latter year.

And, we’ve been with the Hurricanes through it all.

Next. The Saga of David Cotton. dark

So, I guess what I’m trying to say is while the FanSided 250 may not recognize it, I am fully aware that the Caniacs are the best fans in the League.
