Carolina Hurricanes Player Power Rankings: Quarter Mark Thoughts
Some of the Shinier Spots on the Roster
The Carolina Hurricanes have found their true starter in net. Getting 12 of the 20 starts so far, Petr Mrazek has been outstanding. Sure there have been a few dropped games here and there, but the Czech netminder has been solid for this team. Perhaps he can take them further than the Eastern Conference Finals this year. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Little known fact, he has a Peter Griffin hidden in every one of his masks commemorating his time with Grand Rapids Griffins AHL Champion team. Calder Cups really do mean something to these players.

Martin Necas is building himself an excellent rookies season. And yes he is still a rookie due to the lack of 25 games played in the NHL ahead of this season. That excellent play has him in my top five players for this season so far. Can he keep it up or will he fall back towards his progression from last year? Only time will tell.
The good news is that the Carolina Hurricanes are giving him excellent teammates in Ryan Dzingel and now Nino Niederreiter, if he can help pull up Lucas Wallmark with him as he grows, all the better.

Where would this team be without Teuvo Teravainen? We should be sending Chicago a basket of pulled pork every year as a thanks for trading him to us. Every year he seems to be getting better and this season is no exception. One of the few players at or around a point per game, he has been exceptional for this team and its current streak.
It doesn’t hurt that he is sitting on top of the team in assists either. Everything he touches turns to gold it seems.
