The Carolina Hurricanes can’t seem to find a win recently. The youth and speed has to step up to get the Canes, and your fantasy team back on track.
The past couple of games, five to be exact, have been rough for our boys in red and black. The Canes have played some bad games and still can’t seem to find an answer to stop the skid.
Let’s not dwell on the negatives, once again, there are 82 games in the season. No need to panic yet, we just are in desperate need of a 3-7 game winning streak.
Why should we not panic you might ask? This Hurricanes team is still something very special. probably the most special part of this team, the talent of the youth we have. Believe it or not this is still a very young team searching for an identity without Justin Williams.
A couple of youth on this team are very special, and they might not even know it, but they have to step up tonight.
The Golden child. Even in what seemed to be dark, dark time late Saturday night, Andrei Svechnikov gave us hope. Svechnikov is an amazing player and will do amazing things for the franchise, but we must trust the process.
What Svechnikov needs to do better is to not get so many stupid penalties. If he can stay out of the box, and the Canes don’t have to go man down, then the Canes can keep the momentum rolling.
What Svechnikov does well is score. He is second behind his BFF, Dougie Hamilton, in points on the team and the Canes #2 goal scorer as of right now. To have Svechnikov on your fantasy team, and in your heart will give you that glimpse of hope that all Canes fans need for tonight.
The rookie has been impressive thus far this season. He has definitely earned his spot on the squad; The Canes and your fantasy squad.
There was a lot of speculation to start the season if the Canes should have kept Necas or sent him back down to Charlotte for another year of development. Well, they got it right. Necas has time and time proved himself being very involved in the scoring game and is a great pairing with Erik Haula.
What is even more impressive is with Haula out, Necas is still stepping up, being involved with the offense. Here is where the rookie needs to shine: 5 game skid, the Canes looking sloppy, Necas has already earned his spot yes, now it’s time to make his name a house hold name. Step up, rook, get’er done.
Bold pick alert! Gibbons has been quite yes, but there have already been magnificent strides in his game since being called up.
Gibbons is speedy and tough, and has earned progressively more and more ice time the past few games. He has gotten some really good chances on net, but nothing has fell yet. That Changes tonight!
Gibbons will get his first NHL goal tonight in front of the best fans in the NHL. He is probably still on the waiver wire so pick him up for to night.
All in all, with these picks, 7 fantasy points tonight is what you should expect, at the least. If the young bucks take over, it’ll be over for Ottawa and your fantasy opponent real quick.
