The Carolina Hurricanes are still looking to stop the bleeding and finally get back into the win column. Here are three players that can help do the same with your fantasy team.
The Carolina Hurricanes are still looking to make this losing games thing a thing of the past. Sure, they earned themselves a point against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but a loss in OT in a game where you once held a 3-1 lead has to sting. The Chicago Blackhawks might be just the soft target they need to get themselves back into the win column.
The Blackhawks are also looking to end a three game losing streak today. Both teams are 0-2-1 in their last three. With an early game today, they will be at a disadvantage of being the away team. Calvin de Haan getting a welcome back will be the warmed welcome they will get against a team that is doing all the right things on the ice and all the wrong things on the scoreboard.
Good news is that the 11 Forwards and 7 D experiment is over. Last night Brian Gibbons was called up to play on the fourth line. Haydn Fleury is probably the healthy scratch after Trevor Van Riemsdyk saw extensive time on the ice against the Blue Jackets two nights ago. So who should you start to give yourself an early start on your fantasy team today?
Dougie Hamilton
This man is on fire. Seriously, his six goals so far puts him on pace for a 55 goal season. AS A DEFENDER. Thats not to mention the fact that he also has five assists which puts him on pace for a 100 point season. ONE HUNDRED POINTS. Honestly he is a must start for every game. So why am I putting an enphasis on him today?
Because today he pushes the pace on both goals and assits. Today he is going to have us talking about him pushing ahead of everyone else by a mile when it comes to the Norriss discussion. Honestly there is no real reason to not have Hamilton in your lineup. He has been getting around 24:00 TOI and has yet to have a negative plus/minus since the home opener.
Sure he doesn’t rack up more than 4 or 5 SOG, but he DOES shoot, its a guarantee. The last time he failed to put a shot on the net was early April, 2016. The real problem fantasy wise with him is his lack of PIM and perhaps PPP. Excuse him for playing clean hockey. The powerplay on the other hand is more of a team problem.
Andrei Svechnikov
Someone got a promotion. Svechnikov is most likely going to finally be playing on the Sebastian Aho line with Teuvo Teravainen. While his time with Jordan Staal saw him amass several assists and even an empty net goal, he will be given a serious boost with the two Finns to play with. An you will too when you start him tonight.
Yes Svechnikov is a slam dunk start on any night. But just like Hamilton, I expect him to take advantage of a disasterious Blackhawk defense and rack up points one way or another. It doesn’t hurt that he also gets you more than your fair share of PIM. Tongiht he will add on PPP. The extra TOI with him on that line should be more than enough to convince you.
Trust me, Andrei Svechnikov and the rest of the Hurricanes are coming out huge tonight. After all it is their first home game since breaking down the first time against Columbus. It is also their first game not wearing the new white away jerseys. They have yet to lose a game in any other jersey this season. Expect them to roar back to life with Svech on the top line contrinubting the only way he knows how.
Sebastian Aho
He finally did it. He finally scored a goal with a man in net. The monkey is off his back. With Andrei Svechnikov on his line and a renewed sense of purpose, Sebastian Aho will be a wrecking ball today. You KNOW he has had his coffee. He is coming in today to absolutley put on a show and rack up at the very least a goal.

Tonight will be a multi-point effort from the young Finnish superstar. Once he kicks that monkey off his back he goes into another level. Watch him feed Svechnikov and Teravienen consistantly as that line puts a world of hurt on the Chicago Blackhawks. One of these two teams will end their losing streak this afternoon. It wont be the team that has Sebastian Aho.
So why not make sure he is also in your lineup tonight along with the other Canes in the article? With 18 diffrent teams playing today it might force you to make some decision making when chosing your starting lineup. If nothing else make sure that Sebastian Aho is a choice you make ensuring he is playing for you today.
As with all things Fantasy, these choices are only suggestions. Every choice you make is a risk that may or may not pay off. That said these Carolina Hurricanes players are some of the better names for tonight’s game, but it shouldn’t mean you should sit Teuvo Teravainen or Erik Haula.
