After announcing that they were going to be launching their own beer, the Carolina Hurricanes have unveiled the name of their signature brew as well as their brewing partner.

Red Oak, Mother Earth, Duck Rabbit, and all other NC based breweries take warning. A few weeks back, our favorite bunch of jerks, the Carolina Hurricanes, announced that they were going to be launching their own beer. They posted a poll for fans to vote on what they wanted the name of the Canes’ signature brew to be. Well, we have our winner folks. The name of the Carolina Hurricanes beer is, *drum roll please*…

Storm Brew

I love every bit of this. It is the name I voted for, after all. According to the press release announcing the name, Storm Brew won by 75 percent. Now that we know the name of the beer, you may be asking who will be brewing it. Did Tom build a secret brewery under PNC Arena? Is Hamilton brewing it in his backyard with his parents? Am I brewing it myself along with my fellow contributors at Cardiac Cane?

Well, as cool as those would all be, the professionals at R&D Brewing will be the ones crafting this most delicious beverage. R&D Brewing is based in Raleigh, so it’s only a slap shot across town for the Canes. The company has won many awards for their beer over the years so hopefully Storm Brew will be a golden goal for those of legal drinking age.

In the same press release, Michael Smith said the details on packaging, design, and availability will be coming over the coming weeks.

I personally can’t wait to try this. It will make going to Canes games and going out in Raleigh that much more enjoyable knowing that I’m drinking my favorite team’s signature beer. Who knows, it may even give Red Oak Amber Lager a run for it’s money on being my favorite beer.

Question for CC readers: If you are old enough, will you be trying Storm Brew when it becomes available?
