Yesterday, the Carolina Hurricanes announced that they were launching their own beer. What does this have in store for the Hurricanes?

Yesterday the Carolina Hurricanes announced that they were going to be launching their own line of beer. They currently have a poll up on their website for fans to vote for what it will be called. Personally, I think that doing something like this is a great move for them.

The names that fans can vote for are; Cross Check, Hat Trick, Red Line, and my personal favorite, Storm Brew.

With renewed fan interest following the success of last season, more people will be coming to home games, or even concerts and other events, at PNC Arena. So of course when the fans (of legal drinking age) see that the Hurricanes have their own beer, they are going to want to try it. I know I will be. That is for sure to bring in a bunch of money for the Canes.

Not only does this open up opportunities at PNC Arena, it could open up opportunities around Raleigh and surrounding area. They could do tap takeover events at local bars and restaurants, as well as attend local beer festivals and other events.

When I saw the announcement on Twitter this afternoon, I was at one of my local bars. I showed it to one of the owners and he said that if they could get it, they would. So the interest is out there to bring the Canes brew in whenever it launches. And that’s not even in Raleigh. I’m sure bar owners up there would be frothing at the mouth to bring that in.

Another thing, North Carolina (somewhat) recently passed a law that allows the sale of beer and other alcohol at college stadiums. It would be fitting if the Caniacs were to be drinking their teams own beer in the event the Hurricanes were to be able to host an outdoor game at Carter Finley Stadium.

And on a personal note, I would be absolutely ecstatic if this were to come out in time for my meet up with Jordan Martinook in September.

Sadly, we still have to wait for the Hurricanes to announce the name and release date for it. I’m almost positive it will be out by the time the season starts.

Next. Raleigh is Ready for Outdoor Hockey. dark

Question for Cardiac Cane readers: If given the chance, what would you name the beer? Doesn’t have to be one that the Hurricanes put out to vote on.
