The Canes are just four games removed from their last game against the Avalanche. They won a tight game in overtime by a final score of 1-0. Victor Rask scored the game winning goal, and Cam Ward pitched a shutout for Carolina in Denver.

Bill Peters and his club was able to find success on the State Fair road trip, which is something that hasn’t happened under his regime. The team went 0-4-1 on their annual road trip last October.
Carolina posted a record 4-3-0 on the seven game trip.
Eddie Lack picked up his first win of the season on Thursday in Brooklyn, but all signs point to Cam Ward getting the start on Friday. He played a great game against this same Colorado team last week, stopping all 26 shots he faced.
Rookie defensemen Noah Hanifin and Brett Pesce both had great games against New York last night. Pesce logged a career high 20:41 of ice time and was a +1 on Thursday. Expect him to continue seeing a good amount of minutes if his great plays continues.
The past week has been rough for the Colorado Avalanche. Before Thursday, they had lost four consecutive games while being outscored 11-5. The Avs picked up a 2-1 win last night behind a great performance from goalie Semyon Varlamov. He stopped 34 of 35 shots from the Tampa Bay Lightning in Florida.
Carolina Hurricanes
The Avs will be motivated to play a tough road game on Friday. They will look to get their second consecutive win and their second win of their three-game road trip, which comes to an end tomorrow.
Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon has gotten off to a fast start this season, tallying 9 points in 9 games, after a sophomore slump in 2014-2015. He is a dangerous offensive player and will be a major area of focus for the Canes defense on Friday.
The name of the game now for the Carolina Hurricanes is consistency. We know that they can kick up the offense and play solid team hockey, but can they do it every night?
Friday night will serve as a big test for the Canes, and coming out with 2 points against Colorado will not only give the Hurricanes a three-game win streak, but it will also be a big confidence builder as they kick off a big section of their home schedule.
