The Carolina Hurricanes Continue Road Trip in St. Louis Tonight
The Carolina Hurricanes continue their road trip this evening in St. Louis after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins last night by a score of 4-1. Coming off a home win against the New Jersey Devils, the Canes stayed hot behind a Frederik Andersen 25-save performance and goals by Martin Necas, Jackson Blake, Shayne Gostisbehere, and Jack Roslovic's first with the Canes. The Blues will present a well-rested, deep opponent.
Blake is the talk of the town right now with two straight games recording a goal. He has brought youthful energy and a strong shot, which was advertised in the preseason. After Andersen played and recorded the victory last night, expect to see Pyotr Kochetkov between the pipes tonight.
Carolina will be playing the back end of a back-to-back but the Blues have not played since their 1-0 OT victory on Thursday against the New York Islanders. Before that, St. Louis had dropped two straight to the Las Vegas Golden Knights and the Minnesota Wild. They are amid a 4-game homestand, which will finish on Tuesday as they host the Winnipeg Jets.
After 5 games, the Blues are 3-2 and have given up more goals than they have scored this year.
Pavel Buchnevich leads the way with 3 goals after having a strong 2023-24 season. Jordan Kyrou leads the team with 6 points and has been getting better and better. Robert Thomas has 4 points and is looking to repeat another strong season.
Old friend, Justin Faulk, has had a strong start for St. Louis recording 1 goal and 4 points. However, Philip Broberg has 5 points to lead all defensemen. Colton Parayko can also be a threat at the blue line and has 2 assists through 5 games. The team also has a new veteran, Ryan Suter, back there to solidify the defense.
Jordan Binnington has essentially split time so far with Joel Hofer. Hofer has two victories along with a 1.98 GAA. Binnington has been average with a 3.02 GAA and his usually attitude to go with it.
