Carolina Hurricanes fans were met with exciting news on Monday afternoon regarding one of its brightest stars. Forward Seth Jarvis was named as one of the featured players for Prime Video's docuseries FACEOFF: Inside the NHL. He's just the second player announced for the show's second season, joining Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk.
The first season of FACEOFF: Inside the NHL premiered in October 2024, right before the start of the current season. The six episodes focused on the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs and featured the likes of William Nylander, David Pastrnak, Matthew Tkachuk, Connor McDavid, and Leon Draisaitl, among others. All six episodes dropped on the same day and are available to stream on Prime Video.
It goes without saying that this is an excellent decision for the show. While the Caniacs are more than familiar with Jarvis and his antics on and off the ice, the rest of the league has started to take notice over the last few months. Jarvis is fresh off an appearance for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off, where he helped the Canadians defeat the Americans to win the event.
Details for the upcoming season are sparse, with only Tkachuk and Jarvis announced as participants thus far, though more names are to come. Given the timing of the announcement and the wording in the press release, one would think it could focus on the lead-up and the playing of the 4 Nations Face-Off. The tournament was a universal success, garnering some of the best television numbers the NHL has seen in years. This would be a great way to capitalize on that hype.
While Jarvis is expected to be a central figure in one of the episodes, that doesn't leave out the possibility for other Hurricanes players and coaches to make cameos talking about Jarvis as a person and a player. I'd imagine we'll get a quote or two from Rod Brind'Amour, along with some of the other leaders in the locker room, like Jordan Staal, Jordan Martinook, and Sebastian Aho.
This is a massive deal for the Hurricanes' budding superstar. He's already one of the most charismatic players in the locker room. Now, Jarvis is becoming a household name around the rest of the league. By all accounts, he's never one to take himself too seriously, which will likely shine through during his appearance on the show. It also can't hurt as he tries to maintain his standing for Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
I'm sure we'll get more details about Jarvis' appearance the closer to the release we get. The show is set to stream this fall, with early October feeling like a good guess since that's when the first season aired. No matter the specifics, there's no doubt that Jarvis will provide us with an excellent show. He's one of the best personalities in the league. While we know that from watching his game grow, it's time the rest of the NHL got to see it for themselves.
