Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis are on the verge of joining elite company in Carolina Hurricanes history

The Canes' dynamic duo could become the first in almost two decades to reach an exciting feat that was last done by a pair of Hurricanes Hall of Famers.

Since relocating to North Carolina for the 1997-98 season, 30-goal campaigns haven't been common. Over 26 seasons, the benchmark has only been hit 25 times in team history, with just 12 players ever reaching the mark. Eric Staal remains the standard with his 45-goal season in 2005-06, marking the first of five times he ever surpassed 30.

What's even rarer than a Hurricane hitting 30 goals? Two Hurricanes hitting 30 goals in consecutive seasons. That feat has only been done once in team history by a pair of franchise greats. Eric Staal and Justin Williams hit 30+ goals in 2005-06 and 2006-07, with Staal scoring 45 and 30 and Williams reaching 31 and 33 in those seasons, respectively. It might not be long before another duo hits it, too.

After combining for three of the team's six goals in Sunday's 6-4 win over the New York Islanders, Seth Jarvis and Sebastian Aho are incredibly close to joining the Hurricanes Hall of Famers as the second duo with consecutive 30-goal seasons. With nine games remaining in the regular season, Jarvis leads the team with 29 goals, while Aho is close behind with 28, making 30 likely for both.

Jarvis should already be there

If not for injuries costing him seven games, Seth Jarvis would already have his second 30-goal season. Along with another season of scoring goals, the fourth-year star is two points away from consecutive 60-point seasons. After combining for 31 goals and 79 points in his first two seasons, Jarvis has proven the long extension he received was worthwhile for the team.

Jarvis has been on a tear since the start of 2025. In 36 games, Jarvis is tied for fifth in the NHL with 20 goals. His four short-handed goals are the most in the league during that span. He's on pace to match his goal total from last season. Jarvis is also close to his point pace from last season, needing nine points in nine games to match his career-high.

Aho could rewrite the record books, again

Scoring 30 goals has become commonplace for Sebastian Aho. In his first eight seasons, Aho has eclipsed the mark five times, tying him with Eric Staal for the most such seasons in franchise history. If he scores two more goals, he'll surpass the Hurricanes Hall of Famer with his sixth. On top of that, it would be Aho's fourth straight season with 30+ goals, tying him with Staal for the franchise lead.

By some accounts, this has been a slightly down season for Aho. He's just under a point per game this season after soaring past it a year ago. I don't buy into that idea because he's been getting it done at all strengths. His point production doesn't indicate his true value. Aho will always be among the team's most invaluable assets, and that will remain for many years to come.

I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that the two reach 30 goals by the end of the weekend with how well they've been playing. Along with Jackson Blake, the trio has been the team's best line since being put together, with the rookie showcasing his immense growth since the start of the season. It's the perfect time for the top line to be playing like a top line, led by its two brightest stars.
