Predicting the Next Five Players Inducted into the Carolina Hurricanes Hall of Fame

With Eric Staal being immortalized in Raleigh on Sunday, it's time to ponder who will be the next to join this hallowed hall.

2026-27- Ray Whitney

Another name at the top of my list a year ago, there is a great case for Ray Whitney to be one of the next few inductees. He doesn't have the longevity with the team, like the others already honored, playing five seasons with the Hurricanes. However, Whitney was part of both big runs in 2006 and 2009, providing some clutch goals during the Cup run, including two goals in their Game 1 comeback win over Edmonton.

Whitney was limited to 63 games in his first season with the team in 2005-06, but he turned around and put together one of the best regular seasons in team history the following season, scoring 83 points and leading the team in scoring. For a long time, it was the second-most points in a single season until Sebastian Aho's 89 points surpassed it last season. "The Wizard" was a near point-per-game player, trailing only Aho in that department among players with 250 games played for the team.
