Martin Necas had an incredible 2022-23 season, leading the team in points. It's no surprise that things weren't as solid this season, but his 2023-24 campaign did feature his first NHL hat trick. Not only did Necas score three times, he scored the first three goals of the game against the Colorado Avalanche, needing just 16:51 to get the job done.

It started in the first two minutes of the contest. Alexandar Georgiev got most of Necas' shot, but not enough to keep it out. His second goal was a one-time clapper from the slot after a beautiful pass from Brent Burns. To finish it off, Necas buried a pass at the side of the net from Teuvo Teravainen, who himself had four assists in the game, to put the Canes up 3-0. The end of the first period was a little weird, but Carolina managed to finish with a 5-2 victory.
