From viral excitement to airline help, Seth Jarvis is a very popular man in Italy

His late addition to the roster garnered a lot of excitement, from both fellow Olympians and his now-famous group of friends, leading to some viral moments.

When Seth Jarvis was announced to Canada's roster last week, the Caniacs were, obviously, ecstatic about his inclusion on this highly competitive roster. However, this sentiment wasn't limited to those in Raleigh, North Carolina. The excitement was felt across North America, leading to some viral "jealousy" from another Olympic athlete and sudden travel plans for his closest friends.

A fellow Olympian was just as vocal about her excitement

According to Canadian skier Cassidy Gray in a TikTok post last week, there are a few perks to living in the Milan village over the Cortina village. For starters, the Milan village has chocolate lava cakes, which is a valid reason. Another is that they never run out of hot water, which is also valid. Third, and most importantly, was Seth Jarvis, though the Canadian hockey team eventually left the village.

This felt like a one-off moment, but NBC added fuel to the fire a few days later by asking her a question after one of her runs. Offering to ask him a question on her behalf, Gray "challenged" Jarvis to a 1-on-1 hockey matchup on an outdoor rink, feeling she stood a better chance against him in hockey than he'd have if they skied against each other.

Even Gray's parents are getting in on the fun, as she revealed in a post a few days later, saying they were concerned about whether Jarvis got some of his Olympic stuff. The Canes confirmed in the comments that he had, so it's nice to know that story had a happy ending. I won't speak for the organization, but I think we need a Cassidy Gray-Seth Jarvis collab at some point in the near future.

Air Canada stepped in to get his buddies to Milan

If you know one thing about Seth Jarvis, other than how incredibly good he is at hockey, it's that he has one of the most loyal friend groups in the world. They first gained notoriety for their long road trip from Winnipeg to the 4 Nations Face-Off last February, showing up to watch Jarvis and the Canadians win the tournament in Boston after their flights were cancelled.

The group continued to make headlines by doing the same thing during the postseason in April, making the trip to Raleigh to watch the Hurricanes eliminate the Devils in Game 5 of the first round. On the theme of "road tripping," they helped the Canes reveal their road schedule in a fun video during the offseason. Suffice to say, they've become huge Caniacs.

With the suddenness of this announcement, many began to wonder whether Jarvis's friends would find a way to Milan for the Winter Games, especially since they couldn't just drive to Italy. Thanks to some help from Air Canada, they're bound for Milan. The airline stepped in and declared that it would help fly them to the Games. Clearly, nothing would stop them from being there for their buddy.

Unfortunately, they didn't get to see Seth Jarvis make his Olympic debut on Thursday morning. Jarvis was the 14th forward for Team Canada in their opener against Czechia, meaning he was one of the healthy bodies in the press box. Canada was relentless against the Czechs, winning 5-0. Hopefully, we'll see Jarvis get some action at some point for the tournament favorites.
