The Hurricanes revealed their newest road sweaters on Wednesday, paying direct homage to their 2023 Stadium Series sets to begin a new era for the team.

Over the last week, the Carolina Hurricanes have teased a jersey announcement after speculation that new road uniforms were on the way. On Wednesday, we finally got our first look at the new threads the Canes will don away from Raleigh this season.

The team adopted new road uniforms for the 2019-20 season, ditching the Hurricane logo for a diagonal "CANES" across the front. The change came after owner Tom Dundon voiced his displeasure with the team's old design. They also got rid of the red shoulders and brought back the Hurricane Warning flags along the bottom trim.

Early indications were that the new sweaters would be reminiscent of the Hurricanes' Stadium Series look in 2023. As one of the more unique selections in the team's closet, I had a hard time seeing how those black sweaters would translate into a traditional white away one.

With the reveal, the rumors were proven to be true. The team's new road uniforms will showcase a nearly identical two-tone Hurricane logo on the front, similar to their Stadium Series. The sleeves and trim also translate from the 2023 outfit to the new ones, with red and white sleeves and a black number and red and black along the bottom.

My favorite addition to the new sweaters is the "Strutting Stormy" logo on the right shoulder. I'm also a fan of the red letters and numbers on the back and how it contrasts with the white base. It gives it an old-school feel while also being a good update for the team's collection. The team will continue to wear red helmets and pants with their new sweaters, as they did with the previous uniforms.

Like most changes, this will take some getting used to. There will be plenty of detractors and naysayers in the comments, both trolls and honest critics. I like this update more than I liked the previous design, so I'm leaning toward liking the change. Before we rush to judgment, it might be best to let this stew and give it a minute before we definitively declare them as "hot" or "not".
