Kid Canes readers, we took a week off but little did we know we’d come back to such an awesome article. We will get to some Carolina Hurricanes hockey news but first….DJ hit the music……Our gust today comes to us from Raleigh, North Carolina. He has appeared in everything from weddings to the NHL All-Star game. You know him as #97 in your programs, but #1 in your hearts! STORMY THE ICE HOG!
KC: What is your favorite part of your job as Stormy the Ice Hog?
Stormy the Ice Hog: Having an insane amount of rizz.
Kids Canes: What do you like most about hockey?
Stormy the Ice Hog: The mascots.
Kids Canes: If you had a goal song, what would it be and why?
Stormy the Ice Hog: Fat Bottom Girls because I’m thiccc with 3 C’s.
Kids Canes: What is your game day routine? How do you get ready for Canes games?
Stormy the Ice Hog: Wake up at noon. Check @WaltRuff updates on X. Eat Don’s lunch. Nap until puck drop.
Kids Canes: From our Most Junior Hurricanes Reporter “Stormy, why do you not ride the Olympia all the time?” He also added “I would drive the Olympia to work everyday!” (He’s just turned 4 this week and a big fan!)
Stormy the Ice Hog: The seats are too small, and I don’t have a valid North Carolina driver’s license to operate. I’d be a road hog.

Stormy the Ice Hog: Think of a plan for world domination.
Kids Canes: Which current Carolina Hurricanes would you spend a day with, and what would you do?
Stormy the Ice Hog: All of them. We’d have a Mascot Olympics with t-shirt throwing, dance cams, photo posing and prop building. I’d win.
Kids Canes: Which is better? Hamburgers or Pizza?
Stormy the Ice Hog: Hawaiian pizza. No meat.
Kids Canes: What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Stormy the Ice Hog: Low-fat vanilla.
Kids Canes: What hockey position would you want to play for the Canes?
Stormy the Ice Hog: Benchwarmer so I can open the door and look handsome.
HOOOOZAH! How cool is that?!?!?!?!? Stormy sure is a great Ice Hog and it was a super cool interview! We hope you loved it as much as we did.
Now! Let’s Catch up with some Carolina Hurricanes news from the ice.
The biggest story is recently is the return of Jalen “Chat-Man-Du” Chatfield to the line up. He is a great defensemen that typically plays on the 4th pair.
Also, the Hurricanes celebrated Hockey Fights Cancer night along with the rest of the NHL on November 30th with a special moment of silence for all of those families who have lost someone to cancer. That was particularly special to me since several of my family members have had cancer.
Finally, did you see our broadcast buddy Emma Cain covering the Governor’s Cup game between the UNC and NC State hockey teams? She was there, interviewing the players and getting the break down!
We have some really exciting interviews coming up just as soon as we can get them in. It’s really a lot of fun to talk to so many people that have such cool jobs centered around hockey.
