In this article we are going to introduce you to the Carolina Hurricanes’ first round draft pick Bradly Nadeau. Remember that a draft is when teams pick players to come play for them.

The Canes pretty much said “Hey, Bradly Nadeau, come play for us!” He said “Ok! I will!”

But first…..we are going to review the last Kids Cane’s Challenge.

Last time we pointed out that the Hurricanes scored 8 hat tricks (when a player scores three goals in a game) last season. We then asked how many goals would that be?

There are two different ways to get this answer.

The first is maybe the easiest is addition. You could add 3, 8 times.

Written out it would look like this.

3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3= 24

Another way you could do it is by multiplication.

If you do not know your multiplication tables, that is OK! You will get there soon enough

Written out it would look like this

3 x 8= 24

So…the answer is…24.

That is a LOT of goals scored on hat tricks.

Can you imagine if all those goals were scored in the same game????

The gift shop would be empty from everyone buying hats to throw on the ice!

But pooooor goalie! 24 goals in one game would be hard on him.

Switching gears, let’s talk about Bradly Nadeu, the Canes’ first round draft pick.

Bradly Nadaeu last played for the Penticton Vees in the British Columbia Hockey League. I learned that Vee are short for Victories. Because Victories starts with the letter V.

While he might end up playing for the Hurricanes, he will probably go play hockey for the University of Maine. He can play for the University of Maine Bears, and if the Hurricanes need him, he will come play for the Canes.

With the Penticton Vees, Bradly Nadaeu played forward (goal scorer). He scored 45 goals, and had 68 assists in just 54 games!

WOW!

Is that a bunch? I think that is a bunch!

That has got to be a bunch of goals in just a few games.

We might get to see just how good Bradly Nadeau is in preseason games before the season starts.

I hope we do! It will be exciting to see if he can score as many goals as he did with the Penticton Vees.

Maybe even a hat trick!

Kids Canes Challenge Answer:

Last time we pointed out that the Hurricanes scored 8 hat tricks (when a player scores three goals in a game) last season. We then asked how many goals would that be?

The answer is 24.

We get that by adding 3, 8 times OR by multiplying 3 times 8

Written out it would look like this

3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3= 24

Or

3 x 8= 24.

That is A LOT of goals!

Kids Canes Challenge.

In talking about Bradly Nadeau, I wrote he had 68 assists. What is an assist?
