In case you were unaware, today is the NHL trade deadline. No teams can make any trades after the 3 PM EST deadline. Teams can submit trades prior to the deadline and after processing by the league office is announced after 3 PM.

The transactions have been wild this year in the days and weeks leading up to today. One would think that due to all the moves recently, today may not be as active as in years past.

The St. Louis Blues have already acquired Jakub Vrana from the Detroit Red Wings.

The Canes have already made two moves to strengthen the depth of the forward group and defensive core.

Shayne Gostisbehere and Jesse Puljujarvi have been brought to Raleigh but have yet to make their debuts. Tonight’s match-up in Arizona will give both of the newbies a chance to don the red, white, and black.

With $2,606,667 in cap space, Don Waddell is not expected to be very busy but crazier things have happened on deadline day. Waddell will not be pool side having an adult beverage or anything but should be seeing how things play out in the market.

One interesting note is that TSN’s tradecentre targets had the Carolina 2023 1st round draft pick as a top target.

Can Carolina get creative with this and bring in assets for the present and future?

Time will tell!
