Tonight begins the NHL All-Star game festivities. The All-Star skills competition will be held in South Florida at 7 P.M. EST.

Of course, the main game will be on Saturday at 3 P.M. EST when the Central Division takes on the Pacific Division.

More importantly, the Rod Brind’Amour-led Metro Division will take on the Atlantic Division at 4 P.M. EST. Brind’Amour will have a familiar face on the bench in Andrei Svechnikov.

Speaking of Svechnikov, he will be participating in the fastest skater competition this evening.

A little surprising to Canes fans but with the plethora of talent in South Beach, it is difficult to tell where each all-star will fall in the skills competition.

It is more of a Hurricanes tradition to have a contestant in the Accuracy Shooting competition with Sebastian Aho being the reigning champion of the contest with 4 targets hit in 4 shots in just 10.937 seconds.

In 2020, Jaccob Slavin won this competition as well and I think it would have been a good match of skill for Svechnikov to compete. Nevertheless, he will compete with Dylan Larkin (DET), Kirill Kaprizov (MIN), Cale Makar (COL), and Chandler Stephenson (VGK).

It will be a treat to watch Svechnikov with the most talented players in the NHL the next couple of days but all Caniacs are just hoping for a refreshed Svechnikov to return to Carolina.

Hopefully Svechnikov can shake off the goal drought in Florida and start the last few months of the season hot.
