This was a poor performance from the Hurricanes. With the team unable to win on the road so far in this series, we’re going to a game seven after the result of tonight’s game. It was an incredibly poor performance from the team in a game in which they could have won the series. They needed to put in a better performance than that into a game six that could have seen the end of the Bruins then and there.

Carolina was sloppy in their play and they couldn’t do anything with special teams. TD Garden has not been somewhere the Hurricanes have found success and it has forced them to a game seven against the Bruins. This was an awful performance and if the Hurricanes do not collect themselves before game seven, their season will come to an end. This was flat-out unacceptable from the team. It is not good enough.

Andrei Svechnikov‘s double is the only good for the Canes to take from this one. Their most talented winger is now on the board and starting to get his feet back under him. His first two goals of the series couldn’t get the Canes out of trouble when they dug themselves a hole by allowing the Bruins to score first against them for the first time all season long. In this game, they were outmatched.

All this on Antti Raanta‘s birthday, and the Finnish goaltender has been far from the reason the Canes haven’t won this series yet. Raanta’s been very good in the absence of Carolina’s Danish starter. Raanta’s fantastic efforts have made this series close when other netminders could have been overwhelmed given the task he was asked to do. Stepping in behind a team of this caliber and right away filling those shoes is very commendable.
