After a tough-fought 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins last night, the Hurricanes are in Philadelphia to complete their eighth set of back-to-back games on the season. It’s the Philadelphia Flyers who will be the opponent in the City of Brotherly Love. Carolina aims to put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack of the Metropolitan Division, and they can do that tonight.

Philadelphia has not had fun this season. Coming into this season with lofty expectations, the Flyers flirted with the .500 mark for the first month of the season or so, and since then they’ve just been hit by scoring worries. With a lot of key players missing via injury or other means, they’ve been hit hard by absentees. This is something the Canes can expose

Carolina head into this one with a second win in Pennsylvania their aim after they won in the Steel City last night. Aiming to push their winning streak to three, this is the eighth set of back to backs Carolina will undertake this season. There’s still roughly 6 more.

Winning tonight and sweeping both games would not only be good for the Canes as a moral boost, but push them away from the chasing pack in the Metro division. Everyone knows the Canes are one of the best teams in the league and now they can put light between them and the rest. Tonight a victory would push them 4 points clear of 2nd place with 2 games in hand. They’re in a nice position moving forward.

We’re going to see Carolina’s candidate for the Vezina trophy tonight. While the big Dane has been great in recent games, tonight is a different beast. Carolina will be tired and it’s going against an opponent that has already beaten the team once this year. Not an easy task ever, especially tonight.
