Coming off the back of 1 win in their last five, and an overtime loss in a game that they really should have won, Carolina gets a chance to correct their shaky results. They host the Nashville Predators at PNC Arena as they look for their first win at home after the all-star break. It’s another difficult task for the Canes to overcome, but they’ve won their last three clashes with the Predators.

Having beaten the Preds in Smashville earlier in the season, Carolina will be attempting to complete the season sweep of their first-round opponents from last year’s playoffs. Nashville has seen its own trouble recently with the Predators having dropped their last three in a row in regulation. This is a game that Nashville really needs a result in if they’re going to continue to be in that playoff hunt.

In yet another game that will not be an easy task for the Hurricanes, Nashville comes into PNC Arena having not bested the Canes in this building for a long time. Having won all 3 playoff clashes in Raleigh and all 4 regular-season meetings last season, it’s been a long time since Nashville has added two points to their total in Raleigh. But this Predators team is different than years past.

This Nashville team has great top-end talent, they’ve got great depth, a Norris trophy-winning defenseman, and a young star goaltender. This game is going to be difficult. It doesn’t matter how you cut it, there’s not going to be an easy way to beat this Nashville Predators team. That is where the Hurricanes need to improve from previous nights.

When Carolina keeps their foot down and keeps attacking the other net, they’ve beaten teams. They retreated to the comfort of their defensive shell against Florida, and lost a game they should have won. That is going to be something the Canes will look to fix in this one. If they go ahead, don’t let off, keep going and try to end this game there and then. It should be a good game to watch.
