There’s nothing I love more than watching the Carolina Hurricanes sweep a season series. There’s nothing better than watching the Canes end a series against a team unbeaten in a season. When that team is responsible for ending 2 of your last 3 playoff runs, it’s even better. I know this Boston team isn’t what it was in years past, but it still feels nice to sweep them in the season series.

A 6-0 dropping of the Boston Bruins completes the season sweep over the Atlantic team. A game that went to the script that the Canes coaches drew up in the preseason about how to play the perfect road game. A fight early to kick-start the team, a lot of goals, strong special teams, take the crowd out of it. It was everything the Canes could have asked for and it was so fun to watch.

A goal from the captain who was going through a dry spell, a pair of goals from Carolina’s Prius, a pair for Carolina’s star centerman and one for the defensive core really capped off a dominant performance. There was no way Boston was going to keep up in this game. Carolina came out as a team possessed. They were going to beat the brakes off the Lamborgini-less Bruins. It was a great night for the Hurricanes.

When the Hurricanes beat the Bruins and completed the season sweep in which they outscored the Bruins 16-1, we got to see this franchise embarrass the original six-team really for the first time in NHL history. In either Hartford or Raleigh, they’ve never had this level of success against the Black and Gold team based in Beantown. This team finally got over the hump.

Depth scoring didn’t exactly come out in spades here, but the top three centers accounting for five of the six goals in this one is a reason to be grateful as we saw the Canes captain break his doubt too. It was a great day for the team, and it was a very enjoyable day for the fans. This is a highlights pack I’m going to be watching for a long, long time.
