Carolina host the Vancouver Canucks today in a 1 PM EST matinee at PNC Arena. Carolina got their tails handed to them in their last game against Columbus as they were beaten off the rink. Expect the team to come out in this one eager to beat someone’s head in. Vancouver edged the Canes out when the teams met in British Columbia and look to become the 2nd team to beat the Canes twice this year.

Carolina needs a win to regain their Metropolitan Division lead. Their recent defeats have seen them slip behind the New York Rangers in the race for the Metropolitan Division title. Vancouver comes into this game still riding the wave sparked by the hiring of their new coach. As a Canes fan, I’m ready to see the Canes send the Canucks back to Vancouver hating their new coach.

I can promise you there’s not a player, fan, coach, or member of the Canes upper management that is in a good mood after that 6-0 drubbing against Columbus. Vancouver is the next team walking through the doors of PNC Arena, and everyone could do with the therapy of seeing the Canucks get what the Canes sustained. There’s no better cure for seeing your own team get humiliated than seeing your team humiliate someone else.

Unfortunately, I doubt it will be that easy. Vancouver is coming into this game with some great goaltending and a very talented forward group. Yes, their blueline isn’t as strong as others in the NHL, but there’s still far worse than what this Canucks roster will ice in this matinee. If the Canes want to retaliate for their humiliation at the hands of the Jackets last time out, tonight against Vancouver would be great therapy for all their fans.

On NASCAR night at PNC Arena, the Canes hope to get off to the races early and start fast to pull away from Vancouver. Enough with the racing puns, pulling away early and hammering the Canucks would make the entire fanbase feel better after the last game, so if the Canes want to offer some therapy for the PTSD they sent their diehard fans through last time out, this would be the game to do it.
