In their final game of 2021, the Carolina Hurricanes were deadly. With special teams and goaltending leading the way, the Canes won in a dominant fashion to show that they were ready to play in this one. 4 special teams goals lead them past the lackluster Montreal Canadiens team. With the Canes capping the 2021 calendar year with a major victory, we’ve got stuff to talk about.

3 Canes had multiple points in this one, and it was really just dominance from start to finish for the Canes team. While Montreal rang a few posts, it wasn’t really in any doubt that the Canes Finnish netminder was going to be able to hold the fort and secure his first shutout in the city of Oaks for his new team, seeing as he probably had one here as a Ranger but we will get to that.

While the Montreal Canadiens struggled in this game, professional performances from the Carolina roster saw them easily get over the line in this one. It was not an easy game, but it wasn’t the most testing of opponents for the team. It felt a little rusty at times, but the game overall was positive and it outlined what the Canes do well. Good in transition, good in possession, and effective special teams.

It’s been a great couple of days for the Canes on the back of this win, and with a fresh new calendar on the wall, we get to enjoy more Canes hockey this year. We get to see the Canes compete for the Metropolitan Division crown against some of the best teams in the whole NHL.
