What a performance, what a game. This was a very impressive display by the Carolina Hurricanes to emerge victorious from this game. 8 players were out of the lineup, eight regulars were just gone. Yet nothing changes, churning out another result to add two points to the win column. Carolina only iced 16 skaters, and two of them hadn’t played in forever. Didn’t matter.

Carolina played this game in as dominant a fashion as we have seen when they take to the ice at PNC Arena and it was a beautiful sight for the team. There was never a moment in this game where it looked like the Red Wings were going to expose the lack of NHL experience or lack of skaters. Every time they took to the ice, it was a promising performance from the team.

This game wasn’t without hiccups. Both goaltenders let in some soft ones, and probably should have kept the score down, but the Canes managed to convert on the powerplay to start the game and shut the door on the Red Wings when it came to special teams to see them over the line in this game. Considering they only had 10 forwards, this was an incredible performance.

Considering the Carolina Hurricanes were missing 6 regulars to COVID, another to traditional injuries, and could only ice 16 players? This was probably the best performance of the year for the organization. Great job by the makeshift forward lines to put the team ahead early and not let the Detroit Red Wings off the hook until the game was over. Force them to play from behind.
