Tonight, the Carolina Hurricanes and their battered and bruised squad go into tonight’s Star Wars game with R2D2 playing on the 4th line. When the team takes to the ice, there will be a lot of gaps in the lineup. Carolina is going into this game shorthanded and will need their “next man up” mentality to carry them through in this one.

With the Hurricanes needing a miracle to get any form of result out of this game, it comes to a point where the Canes will be needed a lot out of the regulars that are in the lineup. If the Canes top line cannot get going, they will not be able to get a result from this game. Number 88 and 86 will need to be huge for the team as they will now be thrust in the spotlight.

With the team needing more from its forward core, that doesn’t mean that everyone is out. With the defense and goaltending still being up to the standard that they were when the lineup was healthy, it’s going to need to be a very “stop the puck” approach to this game if the Canes want to get two points. There’s a limited number of goals the team can concede and expect to win with here.

Tonight will not be a chance for the team to score its way out of trouble. This will very much be a “do not get blown away” game as the Canes will be forced to adopt a defense mentality heading into this one. It’s going to be a tight game, and hopefully, the Canes will find a way to eke out a result.
