Canes turn to Freddie yet again

Time and again this season the Carolina Hurricanes have turned to their new Danish netminder to bail them out of trouble and keep them in games they have no right being in, and it looks like they are going to do it again tonight with Frederik Andersen expected to get the start for the Hurricanes.

With the Great Dane coming off a sensational performance in Tampa Bay to rebound from a sluggish start in Sunrise, there’s a lot of expectations riding on the back of the big man. Now, Carolina is not a team that needs a goalie to stand on his head to win. They are very capable of dominating a game from start to finish and not asking a lot of their backstop, but there are times he’s stood on his head.

Freddie’s .939 save percentage and 1.73 goals-against average are spectacular numbers that do not lie about how important he has been for the Carolina Hurricanes during this season to this point. When the Canes have asked their netminder to shine through for the team, Frederik Andersen has been that star in the crease. He’s been absolutely sensational.

Well, that’s about it for this one. Carolina takes on the Flyers at PNC Arena at 7 PM EST. This is the first half of the back-to-back with the St Louis Blues waiting in the wings for the game tomorrow night at PNC Arena. Both games will have keys and takeaways for you to read here on Cardiac Cane! Until then, thank you for reading and LET’S GO CANES!
