The Carolina Hurricanes’ schedule changes have finally been decided upon after the team missed the second matchup against the Nashville Predators, both games against the Florida Panthers, and the first of two games against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

After what feels like an eternity without Carolina Hurricanes hockey, the Canes are slated to head back to practice tomorrow (1/26/21) at 11am EST, and will get back in action this Thursday (1/28/21) against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The missed and displaced games are being rescheduled as follows:

Carolina’s home game against Columbus, originally scheduled for Feb. 16, will now be played on Feb. 15 at 7:00 p.m EST. The Hurricanes’ previously postponed home games against the Florida Panthers, originally scheduled for Jan. 21 and Jan. 23, will now take place on Feb. 17 at 5:00 p.m. EST, and March 7 at 5:00 p.m. EST. The Canes’ home game against the Tampa Bay Lightning originally scheduled for tomorrow (Jan. 26), will now take place on Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m EST. The Hurricanes’ road game against the Lightning originally scheduled for Feb. 22 will now take place on Feb. 24 at 5:00 p.m EST., and Carolina’s previously postponed road game at Nashville, originally scheduled for Jan. 19, will now take place on March 2 at 8:00 p.m EST.

Carolina Hurricanes’ hockey is finally back this week, but the team may look a bit different. We are likely to see some of the taxi squad called up, and even some moves from the AHL to the taxi squad to fill slots in case more players need to be added to the COVID protocol list going forward.

The Carolina Hurricanes have 53 games left to play, and 100 days to play them in. If another incident arises like the one the Canes just went through, I’m not entirely sure what could/would happen, but it can’t be good either way. Players are bound to be tired at the very least, and I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more than our fair share of fatigue-related injuries before this season is over.

Question for CC Readers: Which of the Carolina Hurricanes’ players do you think will be the most impactful in their return?
