The Carolina Hurricanes play their only exhibition game today

The Carolina Hurricanes will play their only exhibition this afternoon against their arch-rival, The Washington Capitals.

It is finally here. Hockey. The Carolina Hurricanes will get their first taste of the ice against an actual opponent since they left Detroit many many moons ago. Finally, after the long wait, the concerns, the training, the discussions, and the debates, the return of the Carolina Hurricanes to your TV is mere hours away.

Are you excited? I know I am. Baseball and yesterday’s games have been a decent way to hold me over until today, but today’s game against the Capitals is what I am truly hungry for. After yesterday’s exciting games, I am dying to see what the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals have in store for us today.

The clock has long started on the puck drop to this game. It is a rivalry game, but also a meaningless exhibition game. The Carolina Hurricanes want to win this game for the sake of starting the playoff run on the right foot as well as taking a win against a division rival regardless of the significance of the actual game.

Here are the three keys to doing exactly that and get the boost of confidence needed to go into the weekend and face off against the New York Rangers in a best of five series that could either end the season prematurely or launch them towards an epic fun for the Stanley Cup.
