The Coronavirus pandemic has put a grinding halt on the Carolina Hurricanes’ Season and a stop to all sports. Here are five ways to kill the time until it comes back.

This Coronavirus pandemic has really thrown a wrench into the our hockey fun. With the Carolina Hurricanes making a run up the standings the virus and the wrath it brought has put a damping into our season. Now we all have to wait a few weeks and maybe even a few months for the season to return, if it even returns at all!

Folks, I have seen and heard every variation and every proposal from the players, the fans, and even a few of you. Fact is regardless of how this goes down, if we jump straight into a 24 team playoff contention or even go as far as doing another training camp before closing out the season and playoffs deep into september, there will still be time to kill.

Luckily for you I have taken the time to do some research, look at the qualifying data, and even distill fresh for you, five ways to kill the time. Especially for those of us practicing good social distancing or worse, have been quarantined!

Now These are not guaranteed time killers for everyone. Some of yall have already done some of these or are doing some of them right now. If that is the case, keep on keeping on. Others may need to check with their doctors before engaging in some of these activities.

I don’t know. Maybe. I’m not a doctor.

But I can tell you is that everything on this list may or may not help put a smile on your face in these difficult times.

Rewatch games on Fox Sports Carolinas!

Its like hockey never left folks. Not sure when the next time they will do this, but Fox Sports Carolinas has already re-aired the home opener and it was incredible.

Nothing like reliving a really good win in overtime against a team that has made us a rival in the offseason. That Sebastian Aho offersheet really feels like a million years ago huh.

People followed along on social media and there were a few plays that you didn’t really get to notice the first time around. During a normal season, there always seems to be a lot to watch so we rarely go back and rewatch a game months later. It was worth it.

For now there isn’t a reported next airing of the game so follow the channel on social media, either twitter, facebook, or instagram for the next showing.

I know what you are thinking; “well how am I going to kill the time until we get to the next game?”

I got you covered

Play some NHL20!

That’s right, I am telling you to go play video games! No, don’t look over at your significant other who wants the extra “us” time. Go get some excellent “Chel” time!

There is so much you can do! Play out the rest of the season with nothing but AIs and just sit back and watch! If you set the settings correctly, you can get some pretty realistic gameplay.  In fact, the folks behind EA Sports did exactly that with some interesting results:

But you do not have to stick to these results, grab your XBOX or PS4 controller and take control of the players and control of the team and lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a undefeated remaining season! That could take them all the way up to third place in the metro if not higher!

The cherry on top of all this? Storm Surges are part of the game!

“But what if I am a strict PC ‘master race’ person and do not have a ‘peasant’ console?”
“What if I don’t play video games at all and don’t have a single console?”

Well you’ll need a DVD player, VCR, or at least some streaming services for this next option.

Watch some Hockey Movies!

Miracle on ice. The Mighty Ducks. Slapshot. The Russian Five. Ice Guardians. Youngblood. The list goes on. There are so many good Hockey movies out there to watch to kill the time. Take your pick. We won’t judge. Even if you watch Goon several times today alone. Nothing wrong with that.

Even the Carolina Hurricanes are planning on throwing in a few DVDs and relaxing with some popcorn:

Can you blame them? That has to be one of the best. Miracle on Ice is my personal favorite. That is until Disney makes Miracle on Ice II staring the improbable Carolina Hurricanes winning Goalie David Ayres. Then I’ll have two personal favorites.

There should be no excuse for not doing this one, unless of course, you’ve already seen every single hockey movie ever made.

I don’t believe you. But I also can’t verify. So let’s move onto the next activity.

Practice Your Hockey Skills Indoors!

This might be the only thing on this list that counts as an actual activity. Now I know many of you have hockey equipment have been going to the rinks. I’m talking to you. Just because your rink is closing down doesn’t mean you can’t practice and get better. Especially for you goalies out there.

Do y’all think David Ayres is taking a break right now?

Probably. He deserves it though.

But seriously, all the NHL players are taking the time to practice and train at home. It doesn’t take much. Just a plastic stick, a small plastic ball, and perhaps a good furry friend?

While the video above is from our good rival Artemi Panarin, It should still give you the same message, keep crafting your skill folks! You never know when your break might come.

So for you non-hockey players, I still have one more incredible activity right up my sleeve.
