The Carolina Hurricanes down the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 on the road, extend win streak to three games. How did our game keys hold up?

The Carolina Hurricanes extended their win streak to three games after defeating the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 last night. Now sweeping the three game series, the Hurricanes find themselves back into the first wild card spot, and five points behind the third place Penguins with a game at hand.

In a back and forth, physical contest, Jake Gardiner continued his solid play of late. Now with five points in the past two games, a goal and four assists, he looks to have finally settled in with his new team and playing like the player that earned a four year deal this past offseason.

Haydn Fleury also has continued to show improvement in his game. Gradually earning the trust of the coaching staff, he has been seeing an increase in ice time playing with Brady Skjei on the Canes’ second pair. Showing the willingness to stand up for his teammates, he has finally started to looked like a first round pick.

In his first game returning from injury, Petr Mrazek looked like he hasn’t missed a beat. Making several big saves in the first period alone, he kept the Canes in the game. His rebound control and glove hand was spot on early and was a big reason Carolina walked away with the two points.

Now, let’s take a look at how our game keys held up.
